You, wake up, be incredible motivational quote

Emphasis on the RIGHT Words

I love lettering. That activity propelled me to get into finding and doing things that I love to help me be a better person. What is lettering? Lettering is a form of drawing each letter instead of writing. It’s called many things. Hand-lettering, modern calligraphy, faux calligraphy, lettering etc. There are many ways to letter a word, sentence, or quote by hand. Some choose a font on their computer and print it out. Each person has their own style. There are more fonts in the world than we could ever count. And I am not a pro {yet} by any […]

Arrows Aim True – if you point them in the right direction

After creating a weekly spread with arrows, I kind of went nuts for the arrows and quotes. I’ve practiced my hand lettering over the past few months and writing quotes is always a fun way to practice! I have a long way to go, but I have come very far. I was getting frustrated for a while – simply not able to make thin upstrokes at all. After doing some research (ok a LOT of research), I found that Tombow Fudenosuke brush pens really helped me develop the light touch I needed. I’m not giving up on this endeavor anytime soon. I love it […]

Vertical Weekly Planner Header

Arrow Doodle Vertical Weekly Layout

Arrows in my weekly layout remind me to keep my focus and aim true to my goals In addition to the reminder the arrows served, I loved doodling the arrows. I never realized the sheer variety of arrow types! There are so many things around us to distract our attention from what we really want to do with our lives. I think arrows may become this needs to become a ‘thing’ in my life as a daily reminder to aim true and fly straight towards my goals. Believe it or not, the quote “The art of writing is the art […]

Creating Map Collection Spreads for your Bullet Journal

Creating a Bullet Journal Map Spread

Creating Map Collection Spreads for your Bullet Journal Include a map collection for planning trips, tracking where you’ve been, where you want to go, how much you need to save for that amazing journey you are planning…the possibilities are limitless! I saw a collection not long ago similar to this and the ideas for what I wanted to do and incorporate it into my bullet journal started flowing. Seeing things visually helps me envision other possibilities. So I LOVED the idea of tracking travel. I knew I had to do something with it! Getting it into the pages were a […]

superficial excuses - do they trust you enough to tell you the truth?

Superficial Excuses

I am sure we have all heard a superficial excuse and known that it is not the real reason behind the excuse. I am also sure that we have all given our own fair share of superficial excuses for one reason or another “it’s been a long week”, “it’s too far” and many others that give a surface reason for not fulfilling an obligation or participating in an event. Having a kid can supply a vast array of shallow justifications: “Oh, they aren’t feeling well”, “we have had a hard day” etc. When on the receiving end of these hurried reasons, […]

Listen to be better

Advice For My Younger Self

If you could go back in time exactly 10 years and give yourself advice, what would you tell yourself? I do not wish to change the past – because I feel that mistakes in the past, not just mistakes, all choices create us for who we are. But… if I could tell myself something 10 years ago – it would be to have more patience with my children. My oldest just turned 8 in June, so by going back 10 years, I’d be giving myself some time to figure out what patience truly is and how to develop it. And […]

Intro Graphic - How to Create a Bullet Journal Habit Tracker

How to Set Up a Habit Tracker in your Planner

Do you like the idea of a Habit Tracker in your Bullet Journal, but don’t know where to start? Do you run out of room when numbering in a month? (Yes, I have done it too.) I’ve put together some best practices for planning, laying out and implementing your horizontal Bullet Journal/Planner Monthly Habit Tracker. Best Practices I like to create my Habit Tracker horizontally (long ways) So since I am starting with the horizontal layout, so I turn my journal the way I will view the habit tracker – it makes it easier to create and visualize what I […]

Find Your Inner Muse

300 Prompts for Writing & Drawing Plus a Sketchbook

We were out on a family adventure one Saturday. As we stepped into the sweltering heat of the near noon-day sun, I realized that we needed to get some sunscreen. {I have three very fair children and a husband who is fair as well – I can’t believe we forgot the sunscreen!} I had some at home, but we were too far away to turn back. I saw a Target on the way and we stopped in. After finding the necessary sunscreen, I wandered over to the notebook section – a place I often find myself in any retail store. […]

Do not push the annoy mom button

I’m Not a Bad Mom…But More Gratitude Please

There are days when I feel like I have a giant “annoy mom button” and pushing it is the most tempting thing in the world. My kids (ages 7, 5 and 4 months – but this is about the 7 and 5-year-old), like to tease each other and tattle on each other and do the things that siblings who are 2 1/2 years apart like to do. The problem is, they drag me into the mix! When they are finished annoying each other, they see a new, fresh target and set their sights on easing their boredom by asking me for […]

They don't control me... so I took my destiny back

I Took My Destiny Back

I woke up last night from a nightmare. I could feel my fear in my dreams. And I could feel the disappointment in myself. I dreamed I was back at my old job, being told that I wasn’t good enough. That no matter how hard I tried, I was ‘not a good fit’, and I would not be able to meet their goals. I quit that job 6 months ago. I didn’t have anywhere else lined up to work except a part-time job. Quitting was probably the best thing for me. I say probably because who knows what other course […]
